Sometimes we need to slow right down. When you're tired, overwhelmed or just feeling a bit tender, this calming journaling exercise will meet you where you are.

The Shroud of Zero Fucks Given invites you to create a comforting inventory; sounds, textures and rituals that help you feel safe and soothed. From the restorative act of making a cup of tea to the warmth of your favourite jumper, these little things matter. They speak to a part of you that wants to be held.

In the second part of the prompt, you'll imagine a shawl or blanket woven from these comforts. What does it look like? What does it protect you from? What might it say of it could speak?

This is a chance to offer your inner child what they may not have received; protection, gentleness and care. Wrap yourself up in something soft, symbolic and entirely yours.

You can download the prompt from my Creative Exercises page and use it whenever you need a moment of quiet comfort or emotional holding.

A cosy burnt-orange armchair with a soft cream blanket draped over the side. A wooden table beside it holds an open notebook and pen, set against a sage green botanical background. The scene feels calm, reflective, and inviting—perfect for journaling or quiet moments of self-care.
